If you forget your master password
What actually happens, why it can't be recovered, and exactly what you do and don't lose.
Why there is no recovery
Your master password is never transmitted to Trezio's servers and never stored anywhere — not in plain text, not hashed, not in any recoverable form. Unlocking the Vault works by attempting to decrypt a piece of verification data with whatever password you enter; there's no reference copy anywhere to reset it against. This is a deliberate tradeoff of the encryption model, not an oversight — the same design that keeps Trezio from ever being able to read your credentials also means Trezio can't hand them back to you if you lose the key.
What you lose
Only the credentials stored in your Vault — the usernames and passwords attached to saved items. Those become permanently unreadable.
What you don't lose
Everything else in your library is untouched: bookmarks, notes, screenshots (including the images themselves), voice notes, folders, and charms. Those aren't protected by the master password, so forgetting it has no effect on them at all.
What to do next
- You can set a new master password and start saving credentials again going forward.
- For anything that was in the Vault, you'll need to re-add those credentials manually — there's no way to migrate the old ones forward.
- If you know a specific saved password from memory or another password manager, just re-save it once you've set a new master password.
