How it works
How to convert Markdown to HTML
Add your Markdown
Paste it, type it, or open a .md file. A README, a blog draft or notes from any Markdown editor all work.
Pick the HTML you need
A snippet to paste into a CMS or email, or a full page. Choose indenting, heading ids, new-tab links and basic CSS.
Copy or download
Copy the HTML code, or download it as an .html file that opens in any browser. Check it first on the Preview tab.
What you get
Clean HTML, element by element
Plain, standard HTML with no inline clutter and no scripts. Every piece of your text is escaped, so the code is safe to paste anywhere.
Headings
Each # level becomes h1 to h6, with an id made from the heading text when heading ids are on.
## What changed → <h2 id="what-changed">What changed</h2>Lists and tasks
Bulleted and numbered lists become ul and ol, nested as deep as you write them. Task lists get checkbox inputs.
- [x] Done → <li class="task"><input type="checkbox" disabled checked> Done</li>Tables
Pipe tables become a table with thead and tbody. Column alignment from the separator row is kept.
| :--- | ---: | → text-align:left / rightCode
Fenced code becomes pre and code, with a language-name class that syntax highlighters such as Prism and highlight.js read.
```js → <pre><code class="language-js">Links and images
Web, mailto and in-page # links, and images from web addresses. Links can open in a new tab with rel="noopener noreferrer".
[Docs](https://example.com) → <a href="https://example.com">Docs</a>Raw HTML, escaped
HTML tags typed into the Markdown come out as visible text, and javascript: links become plain text, so nothing in the output can run.
Questions about Markdown and HTML
How do I convert Markdown to HTML?
Paste or type Markdown in the box, or open a .md file. The HTML code appears next to it as you type. Copy it with one click, or download it as an .html file. Switch to Preview to see how the HTML looks.
Should I choose an HTML snippet or a full document?
Choose Snippet to paste into a CMS, a blog editor, an email template or an existing page: you get only the content, such as headings, paragraphs, lists and tables. Choose Full page for a standalone file that opens in any browser: it adds the doctype, a head with the title and a body.
Which Markdown does it support?
GitHub-flavoured Markdown: headings, bold, italic, strikethrough, links and reference links, images, bulleted, numbered and task lists, block quotes, inline code, fenced code blocks with a language, horizontal rules and tables with column alignment. Bare web addresses become links.
What happens to HTML tags inside my Markdown?
They are escaped, not passed through: a div or script tag written in the Markdown comes out as text that shows on the page and never runs. Links are kept only when they start with http, https, mailto, www or #, so a javascript: link becomes plain text. Images must be web addresses or embedded base64 images. If you need your own HTML, add it to the result after converting.
What do the options change?
Indent puts each block on its own line and nests lists and tables, without changing any text; code blocks are left exactly as written. Heading ids adds an id made from each heading's text, so you can link to a section with #. New tab adds target="_blank" and rel="noopener noreferrer" to web links. Basic CSS adds a small stylesheet for readable text, tables and code.
Is my Markdown uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so nothing you type or open is sent to Trezio or anyone else. Images in the preview load from the addresses written in your Markdown. Your last Markdown and your options are kept in this browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't wipe them; press Clear to remove the text.
How is this different from Trezio?
This tool converts Markdown and forgets it. Trezio is where your notes and links live afterwards: save text notes and pages from the browser extension, organize them with folders and tags, and find them again with search. There's a free plan.
