How it works
How to convert Markdown to PDF
-
Add your Markdown
Paste it in, type it, or open a .md file from your computer. You can also drag the file straight onto the editor. A README, meeting notes or a document exported from Obsidian all work.
-
Check the page
The preview updates as you type. Pick the paper size, margins and font, add page numbers, or start every top-level heading on a new page.
-
Save as PDF
Press Save as PDF and choose “Save as PDF” in your browser's print window. Need a web page instead? Download it as HTML.
What it handles
Everything a Markdown document needs
GitHub Flavored Markdown, the dialect used by GitHub, Obsidian and most editors, laid out for paper rather than a screen.
Text and structure
Headings, **bold**, *italic*, ~~strikethrough~~, quotes, horizontal rules and nested lists, plus links, including bare web addresses.
Tables
Pipe tables with left, center and right alignment. Rows never split across two pages.
Task lists
- [ ] and - [x] become real checkboxes on the page, ticked or empty.
Code
Inline `code`, fenced and indented code blocks in a monospace font. Long lines wrap so nothing is cut off at the page edge.
Page layout
A4, US Letter or Legal, three margin widths, sans-serif or serif text, page numbers, and headings that never sit alone at the bottom of a page.
Private by design
No upload, no server and no account. The PDF is made by your own browser, and raw HTML in a file is shown as text so it can't run.
FAQ
Questions about Markdown to PDF
Is the Markdown to PDF converter free?
Yes. Convert as many files as you like, with no account, no watermark and no page limit.
Is my Markdown file uploaded anywhere?
No. The converter and the PDF both run in your browser, so your text is never sent to Trezio or anyone else. Images you link to load from their own websites, like they would in any Markdown viewer. Your draft is kept in this browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't wipe it; press Clear to remove it.
How do I save the PDF?
Press Save as PDF. Your browser's print window opens; choose “Save as PDF” (or “Microsoft Print to PDF”) as the destination and save. For a clean page, turn off “Headers and footers” in that window. On iPhone and Android, use Share or Print and save the preview as a PDF.
Does it support GitHub Flavored Markdown?
Yes. Tables with column alignment, task lists, strikethrough and bare links work, along with headings, bold and italic text, quotes, nested lists, fenced code blocks, images and horizontal rules.
Can I change the page size, margins or font?
Yes. Choose A4, Letter or Legal paper, narrow, normal or wide margins, and a sans-serif or serif font. You can add page numbers and start every top-level heading on a new page.
Why does HTML in my Markdown show up as text?
Raw HTML is shown as plain text on purpose, so nothing in a file you open can run code in your browser. Write the same thing in Markdown instead: tables, links, images and line breaks all have Markdown syntax.
Do I need VS Code, Pandoc or Python to convert Markdown to PDF?
No. Those work, but they mean installing an editor extension, a command-line tool or a LaTeX engine. This converter needs only a browser, on any computer or phone.
How is this different from Trezio?
This tool turns one Markdown file into a PDF. Trezio is where your notes and links live afterwards: save notes, links, screenshots and voice notes to one library, organize them with folders and tags, and search across everything. There's a free plan.
