How it works
How to use the notepad
Start typing
There's nothing to set up. Click into the page and write: a list, a draft, a phone number, a thought you don't want to lose.
It saves itself
Every change is saved in this browser as you type. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, and the note is where you left it.
Take it with you
Copy the whole note in one click, or download it as a .txt or .md file named after its first line.
What it does
A notepad that stays out of the way
No account, no formatting bar, no sign-in prompts. Just the text, saved where you can find it again.
Saves as you type
Each change is saved on this device a moment after you make it. Ctrl+S or ⌘S saves straight away.
● Saved on this deviceSeveral notes
Start a new note any time. Each one is named after its first line, and the one you edited last is at the top.
# Groceries → “Groceries”Word and character count
Words and characters for the note you have open, updated as you write.
182 words · 1,046 charactersDownload .txt or .md
Keep any note as a plain text or Markdown file, named after its title, ready for any editor.
Groceries.mdWorks with no connection
Once the page is open, nothing it does needs the internet, so you can keep writing on a train or a bad connection.

Questions about the notepad
Is this online notepad free?
Yes. There's no account and no signup: open the page and start typing. There's no limit on the number of notes, only on the space your browser gives each site.
Where are my notes saved?
In this browser on this device, in its local storage. They are never uploaded to Trezio or anywhere else, so another browser, another device or another browser profile won't see them. Your text size and line wrap settings are kept the same way.
Will my notes still be here next time?
Yes, if you come back in the same browser on the same device. Clearing your browsing data or this site's data deletes them, and some browsers remove data for sites you haven't visited in a while (Safari can after seven days). Download any note you can't afford to lose.
Are my notes private?
Nothing you type leaves your device: there's no account, and the page sends your notes nowhere. But anyone who uses this browser on this device can open the page and read them, so don't keep passwords here. In a private or incognito window, notes are forgotten when you close the window.
Does the notepad work offline?
Yes, once the page is open. Writing, saving, switching notes and downloading all happen in your browser, so they keep working if your connection drops. Opening the page again later usually needs a connection.
Can I keep more than one note?
Yes. Press New note to start another. Each note is named after its first line, the one you edited last is at the top, and you can switch between them, download them or delete them. Clearing or deleting one note leaves the others alone.
How much can I store?
Browsers give each site about 5 MB of local storage, which is roughly five million characters of text across all your notes. The notepad tells you when you get close. Download the notes you want to keep and delete them here to make room.
Do my notes sync between devices?
No. This notepad keeps notes in one browser and never syncs them. If you want your notes everywhere, Trezio keeps notes, links and screenshots in one library that syncs: use it on the web on any computer, in the Android app, and save pages from Chrome with the extension. There's a free plan.
